The El Diablito Story
100% clean, healthy protein in bold teriyaki and kickin' chili lime flavors that'll make you say "Quiero más."
Started in the summer of 2017, El Diablito jerky is the most sustainable meat-based jerky. Inspired by their time giving food to Central American migrants riding La Bestia with Las Patronas in Veracruz, Mexico, the Acarí team, upon returning to Tabasco, began experimenting with ways to preserve the invasive "devil fish" so that migrants could take a protein-packed snack on the road with them. After several months of playing around with flavors in a household dehydrator, El Diablito was born. Because of the devil fish's mild flavor and firm texture, El Diablito jerky tastes and feels like beef jerky, but without the sin. As an invasive fish, the devil fish is treated as by-catch and commonly discarded by rural fishermen.
We're processing this naughty lil devil into a tasty treat chock full of protein and omega-3's, in turn providing a valuable new source of employment for rural fishermen. There's no concerns of overfishing or fish farming here. Every batch of El Diablito is made by hand without nitrites or other chemical preservatives. El Diablito's the jerky you crave but without the guilt of traditional meat jerkies.
